Here are all the latest news, all together (including site updates, various entertainment news, or just maybe something random I heard about).

General news:

UNDERWORLD AWAKENING 01.20.12
Seems I've neglected to put a trailer up on the upcoming 4th UNDERWORLD movie:

Also, want to point out, there was a special Blu-Ray release with the first three films, plus 3 anime shorts, and Ultraviolet digital copy, that was released on Dec. 20. Being a fan, I feel awful not knowing of it, but more so, appalled by lack of anything mentioning it (not shown in any store ads, not mentioned in the TV spots, etc).

As for me, I have the first on both DVD and Blu, Evolution on DVD, and Rise of the Lycans on Blu. As a fan, I should get this, but as a fan on a budget, the only thing I'm missing is the anime shorts and having the 2nd film on Blu-Ray. I don't care for digital copies of stuff, since they're way too restricted.

I'm Not Neglecting This Site...
..no, seriously. At least, not on purpose. A mixture of wanting to tone down TV news, and no real new movie news since Comic-Con back in July, and hardly anything out there in the musical world (though, usually, I have to go to each artist site to see if there's stuff, since I like bands that aren't exactly nationally recognized, or even of this country), and of course, there's time, I just haven't really gotten to posting anything here.

So, this is me updating on how I haven't been updating. But, there's always my useless Tweets in the Twitter feed on the right side anyway.

But, hey, I did update the banners with shows that are currently airing (I had True Blood up for over month after the 4th season ended before I finally changed it to show Supernatural). Though, that itself was a month ago.

Comic-Con Over, Quick Roundup
Though I wasn't there (work and like no money and stuff), the Internet is there to fill in the details of what's to come on my favorite TV Shows (both rest of the summer, and returning in the fall), plus a few good movies (well one I find myself really excited about).

First, Thursday had the Ringer panel, which marked Sarah Michelle Gellar's second trip to the Con ever. The CW released an extended look trailer:

Series premieres, September 13th, 2011 at 9/8c PM (Mark it on your calendars)

Friday was the day of the Big Bang Theory panel, and the tidbits I saw from G4's Coverage is wedding planning and the aftermath of Penny/Raj drunken night.

True Blood, now there's a panel I would love to see. Nearly all the major players present, and Alan Ball of course, and like always, a look at what's to come the remainder of this season (steamy, action-packed, wonderfulness):

It's a lot to take in, spoilery, sure, but most of the time once we get to those episodes, whatever we may have took from it, ends up a little different. But, it is looking to be an awesome season, and I look forward to more seasons of those fantastic series.

Saturday saw a big bulk of shows, Chuck's final panel as the upcoming 5th season is it's last, and that of course meaning a video release as coming into it, Morgan is now the intersect so enter the Rocky themed workout video:

Oh, and this is Chuck, so no Chuck season will be complete with a guest star or two. One confirmed actor: Mark Hamill.

The Fringe panel started, sans Joshua Jackson (who plays Peter Bishop, which, if you've yet to catch up on your DVR, then avert your eyes, ... seemed to have been wiped from existence), and a video of Peter auditions went out with some familiar faces (Greg Grunberg, Zachary Quinto, Jorge Garcia, to name a few), before showing Peter as an...Observer. Then back to the panel, Jackson appears to take a seat at the panel with rest of cast. Read more at BuddyTV

Other TV tidbits:

Vampire Diaries: We know Stefan has a bloodlust now, we haven't seen the last of Elijah, Tyler and Caroline are just friends, and Damon shirtless and soapy (seriously, that's a headline for a few articles, such as from Entertainment Weekly)

And as we knew, Supernatural, of all the Warner Bros. shows returning, is the lowest rated as well, but it's strong core fanbase means, this little show, got Hall H (the largest at the Con, usually held for movie panels), and packed it. What we know, first ep of season 7 will pick up RIGHT AFTER the end of the 6th. Crowley will be back (yay!). They showed some video from the 3rd ep (which Jensen Ackles directed, and Jewel Staite (Firefly) guest stars in). Sam and Dean no longer have a friend is Castiel. And Ben Edlund has eyes set for a ninja story (as there are throwing stars in the trunk of the Impala, would be nice to see them used). (Entertainment Weekly)

And, also a Hall H panel, Doctor Who returns to BBC America on August 27 at 9/8c PM. Video was released for what's to come in the 2nd half of the 6th season, including that the Doctor may have accidentally saved Hitler's life and Cybermen:

We also learned Matt Smith (the 11th Doctor) is a True Blood fan. (FEARnet).

The CW shows don't have much towards videos, at least not online yet, as I could find. All that is available online are clips of the previous season to essentially pump us all up for the upcoming seasons.

And the movie, aside from there being the 4th Underworld film (Awakening), which I'm extremely looking forward to as I am firm on it being the best Vampire/Werewolf (Lycan) franchise ever, there is a different movie to talk about: Knights of Badassdom. First, the title: Awesome. Second: it's got Summer Glau (Firefly, Sarah Connor Chronicles), super Awesome. Third: also stars Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) & Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Fourth: innocent LARPing becomes real, a bit interesting (okay, hilarious). Check out G4tv.com to read more.

Underworld 4 is now called Underworld Awakening
After finally catching the G4 coverage of Comic Con (I was working during the live event, the first encore, and the Sunday encore, had to get up early this morning to finally catch an encore), and during it, found out the next Underworld film will be called Underworld Awakening. Before, it was New Dawn, and I welcome the change to Awakening because the first title sounded too, 'Twilighty,' and we know that the Underworld franchise is far superior to that shit.

Anyway, Kate Beckinsale was present and more became known about what the fourth installment will be. We already knew that Selene (Beckinsale) will have a daughter, now we know Selene escapes imprisonment to find that the humans know of the Vampires and Lycans existence. At the panel, there was hardly any information given about the daughter. Producer (and Beckinsale's husband) Len Wiseman only revealed that it is an "unknown daughter."

The IGN article also mentions that the previous movies will be re-released as a Blu-Ray set with additional stuff (anime shorts that fill in holes of the 'Underworld' universe). Although, I couldn't quite find anymore information on that, Amazon only has the trilogy set that had been released back in 2009. Searching more, I found this Bleeding Cool article, which only mentions that it could be released around the release of Awakening in theaters, or even later to include the 4th one. Maybe as the months go by, more details are given.

Anyway, so, release date is set at January 20, 2012, and I'm looking forward to it.

TORCHWOOD this week on Starz
Torchwood: Miracle Day premieres this Friday, July 8th, at 10PM on STARZ. Just in case you forgot.

Netflix subscribers should be able to stream the episodes, unfortunately, 90 days after airdate, but we Americans used to have to wait longer than that before to get to see British shows, now Starz subscribers get it first (a week before the UK).

Also, look out for that digital companion series, Web of Lies written by Jane Espenson (yep, same one that did some writing for Buffy, Firefly, Dollhouse, and Tru Calling), and will have, not only the voice talents of series regs John Barrowman and Eve Myles, but also Eliza Dushku (who starred in, well, Buffy, Dollhouse, and Tru Calling). It's supposed to be out on iTunes, which I hope means anyone willing to install iTunes can view it, rather than only those with iPods/Pads/Phones, which I'd find severly limited (and mean). Oh, and only the 1st ep would be free, the others, would be $0.99 for three, or $2.99 for all nine.

True Blood season 4 premiere inches closer
This is just me suffering from True Blood Withdrawal (#TBWithdrawal on Twitter), but as I type and post this, it's only a mere five days and an hour away, and I got to work. Luckily, Leverage can record on my DVR (as it returns during the same time), and I can catch the encore of True Blood at 11pm (or if I get the west feed, 12am, I hope TWC has the west coast feed just in case).

CW Premiere Dates for '11-'12 Season; plus CW editorial
I know I usually use the Supernatural avatar whenever an article mentions the show, but this fall, all eyes are on the new CW series, Ringer, starring the one and only Sarah Michelle Geller (you know, Buffy). The new series will premiere September 13, at 9/8c PM, and don't think it's lost on me that that is exactly 6 years after Supernatural premiered on the WB, the network Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped save when it was in its infancy. Of course, we know the WB did merge into UPN to form the CW network we have now. So the big question, can Geller do it again? Can this series, originally meant for CBS (who is the C in the CW), bring in more viewers to the near 5 year old network (it first signed on September 18th of 2006, just for the record). True, the CW has had seen success with the likes of The Vampire Diaries, it's highest rated show, but I should remind that Smallville had similar 18-49 demo ratings when it was on Thursdays at 8. The difference came with the Women 18-34 demo, where Smallville had among the lowest.

But, with all of broadcast seeing numbers take a dive, and CW can't really afford to lose what it has, could Ringer bring in more ratings? With Dawn Ostroff gone and the new Prez, Mark Pedowitz (who's first decision was bringing in Ringer, BTW), on board, could the CW potentially shed away from the likes of Gossip Girls and 90210 and find the balance that the WB had when it had the family dramas of 7th Heaven, Everwood, and Gilmore Girls, while still having teen dramas of Dawson Creek and Felicity, mixed with supernatural thrills of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Charmed, and let is not forgot the adventures of the young Clark Kent on Smallville spanning half it's life on the WB first. One Tree Hill and Supernatural were also on the WB first before the merger. The CW started with a decent amount of programming, with mostly stuff from the WB, including Gilmore Girls, as well as some good stuff from UPN, such as Veronica Mars, which both ended that very year, while some comedies from UPN managed a year or two before meeting their ends. Only thing from UPN now is America's Next Top Model, a reality show. With the exception of the CW adding more reality crap, their offers are fairly strong.

Expanding on the success of The Vampire Diaries, they've added The Secret Circle, based on books written by the same author of the Vampire Diaries books, plus same creator dude behind it as well. The Vampire Diaries returns for a third season on September 15th at 8/7c, followed by the premiere of The Secret Circle.

Then, other than also Ringer, which I've already mentioned, there's the new Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) series, Hart of Dixie, which is neither supernatural or a teeny angsty series, like Ringer, it has the potential of a sold viewing audience. While Ringer has the thriller part, Hart of Dixie goes more for the southern small-town charm. There is no high school, and no vampires, in either show. Both are grown-up shows, and see two actresses who've previously been on TV, return to TV. Though, Hart of Dixie could suffer like how Life Unexpected did, skewing a little more on the older side of things. Also, Mondays and Tuesdays lately haven't been strong for the CW, not like Thursday and Friday (yes, Friday, I said it). So Bilson and Geller both have some obstacles for their respected shows, trying to not only bring in a good amount of viewers, but also trying to make a good portion of that within the 18-49 demo, which, they could do, especially with the 30-49 portion of that who previously watched the actresses in their previous series', and don't care for any teen dramas anymore. Unfortunately, it's the shows they air after that woudl hurt them most (Dixie is after Gossip Girl, while Ringer is after 90210). Hart of Dixie premieres September 26 at 9/8c PM.

And, the return of Supernatural is September 23 at 9/8c PM. The 7th season looks like it'll deal with the aftermath of the events that transpired at the end of the 6th, as Castiel absorbed the souls of Purgatory and essentially became the new god, which he asks that Sam and Dean worship him or else, he'll destroy them.

Here's the full scheduled dates:

Tuesday, September 13
8pm-9pm 90210
9pm-10pm Ringer

Wednesday, September 14
8pm-9pm H8R
9pm-10pm America's Next Top Model

Thursday, September 15
8pm-9pm The Vampire Diaries
9pm-10pm The Secret Circle

Friday, September 23
8pm-9pm Nikita
9pm-10pm Supernatural

Monday, September 26
8pm-9pm Gossip Girl
9pm-10pm Hart of Dixie

One Tree Hill is set for its last season and is being held midseason. Honestly, I hope well for Dixie and Ringer, so that more solid shows can be on instead of the "who is sleeping with whom" teen/young adult dramas of Gossip Girl and 90210, which have reached a point where just watching the trailers is confusing enough as to what the hell is going on. It's not the same as what the WB had with their teen dramas, which even Buffy shared into (first three seasons, they were in high school). But if Hart of Dixie can capture a Gilmore Girls style of witty and charming enough that even I can find myself watching it, and it can pull in an audience that matches, and if Ringer can bring in Buffy-like audience and captivating storylines, then maybe the CW can stand a chance. They need to do something, 'cause, Supernatural is in its 7th season, and last I heard, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were contracted through 7, and, there's always that chance that this could be the last season. So the CW needs a few more shows to go along with Diaries to pull this network out of a pit of sub-4 million viewers and, at last rating, 1.3 demo.

Torchwood: Web of Lies will be an Interactive Companion App
More information was released today about the web series, Web of Lies, which serves as a companion to Torchwood. A month ago, it was confirmed that Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tru Calling, Dollhouse) will lend her voice to a character, as well as Torchwood stars John Barrowman and Eve Myles portraying their Torchwood characters, now we know that it's not just an animated web series.

According to Zap2It, it'll also feature interactive gameplay to tie into the story, allowing viewers to further engage into the wonderful world of Torchwood, which, as I hope you now know, was a spin-off series of the highly popular, long running sci-fi/adventure franchise of the UK, Doctor Who (in fact, Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who).

The series premiered first on BBC Three, as the rebooted Doctor Who was in its 3rd season (the 2nd season with the 10th Doctor played by David Tennant). The 1st season of Torchwood actually ended with Captain Jack Harkness (played by John Barrowman) taking off at the sound of the TARDIS, and the end of season 3 of Doctor Who brought in Jack, as the TARDIS traveled to the end of the universe. The 2nd season of Torchwood premiered on BBC Two (I guess in Britain, that'll be like a promotion for a show), while BBC America was still the US distributor for the show, and months later, I might add. But we did get to view the tales of Harkness and his team as they deal with alien encounters that travel through a rift in time and space that exists in Cardiff. The third season was more like a 5-part miniseries to us Americans, that got it's British run on BBC One this time, and we only had to wait a few weeks. Children of Earth dealt with an alien that returned to take the world's children, since they produced a chemical that was like a drug to this race. By the end of this, the only members of Torchwood to survive were Jack and Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles), plus her husband Rhys survived and they were expecting as well. Jack Harkness, after the events, left them behind to travel, farther than just around the globe.

Now, Torchwood will be back, and now, the US will view it, unfortunately, at a premium, with Starz (though, apparently, there's yet to be announcement for when BBC will air it, so yay us for being able to view it first). Titled, Miracle Day, the 10-episode season will also bring in Mekhi Phifer and Bill Pullman, as the remainder of the Torchwood are back to deal with an event where no one on Earth died. The trailer promises action and explosions, and with Russell T. Davies still behind the the series, plus having writers such as Jane Espenson on board, this season surely won't disappoint current fans of the show, while still in position to add to it. Because, from what I can tell, prior knowledge of the show isn't necessarily required (though it's awesome enough to check out, I recommend it, and Netflix subscribers can, right now, watch seasons 1 through 3, all available to stream instantly, so why not check it out?).

Back to Web of Lies, it'll be written by Jane Espenson, who was the one who previously teased us on Twitter about what she's doing (using words like "Faith," "Echo," and "Tru" to hint at possible involvement by Eliza Dushku, as those were the name of characters she has played, interesingly enough, all shows that Espenson had been involved with as well).

The motion comic gaming app companion extravaganza (too much?, oh well), will be first available for free on iTunes, and the additional nine parts will be sold in sets of 3 for $.99, or all for $2.99 (personally, if iTunes is all that's required, I'll take the $2.99 deal).

More information on Miracle Day and Web of Lies is coming out more in full force, as we grow closer to the premiere of TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY on Starz (which is set for July 8, at 10pm).

Breaking Benjamin to release Greatest Hits set
A few days ago, I was listening to Hard Drive XL on the local rock radio station, and they played "Blow Me Away," which sounded odd, like there was female backing vocals to it. I figured it was the radio station, as I was having some problems getting the station in clear, it happens from time to time, the dial is 105.5, sometimes a 105.3 wants to buzz in.

Anyway, after it played, it was mentioned that it was for a Greatest Hits that is gonna be released. Of course, that night, I went to the official Breaking Benjamin site, only to see no news posted. Before posting this, I checked again, still nothing posted for this year at all. However, upon digging through the forums, I learned that "Blow Me Away" is indeed mixed with an artist, Valora, which is a new one for Hollywood Records. Apparently, it's to promote the new act, remixing a song from an existing band. I have a feeling this is more Hollywood Records thinking, not Breaking Benjamin's. This could be due to the hiatus the band is taking due to recurring illnesses, and we know how labels can be, impatient as can be.

Anyway, I went to the Facebook page for Valora, to which I found this YouTube video, well, it's just a static image, but the point is that entire song available to listen, and, available to purchase from iTunes on June 7th. Also, on the static card, it says the Greatest Hits and Rarities set will be released on August 16th. Which I believe is what Lou Brutus (Hard Drive XL host) said.

The closer we get to August 16th, maybe more info about this release, which seems to be not just the singles that were released, but rarities/b-sides as well.
