About the Site (History)

The Site | History | Me

Before Awesomely Aloof it was VLYnet, and before that, simply VLY back around Dec. 2000. It was first on Go Network, then quickly advanced to Tripod. It was there for many months, but went to GeoCities by late 2001 as problems occurred in Tripod. Then by late 2002, it was completely with Bravepages as problems occurred with GeoCities. And ended its free-host life on Angelfire as Bravepages also had problems. The site did use GeoCities (as a testing site) though as Angelfire didn't have enough space.

It first was created with simple pagebuilding, and then a WYSIWYG editor on GeoCities, but became neater as I went completely to HTML since the online builders gave me nothing but trouble. Coding gave more control.

The site started as a simple music info site, then had news, lyrics, wallpapers, yim skins, then expanded with a FRIENDS Tribute site and unfortunately, an unfinished MATRIX tribute, which I abandoned (I love the movies, just didn't have time).

Feb 2005, I started a new redesign, enhancing with knowledge I learned as I go for my Associates in Web Development. It was still on Angelfire since I have yet to have any major problems with them (they were very good for a free host.)

This site is for me, mostly, where I wish to share stuff I did (artwork, story ideas), and share what I love (through mini-pages to shows/movies/bands I like, or sites to those which stand out to me the most). It's like a portal to what defines me. And gives me something to do when I'm bored.

In 2006, a new design started to develop, and I was going with a more graphical layout, since broadband was increasing, I figured, why not go bigger. I had PHP stuff in mind (like a Tag Box), but when surfing for a host, most ToS/AUP or whatever mentioned no chat-like scripts (something like that), so I figured, I'll play it safe, and just get the damn pages up, and go to a Remotely Hosted service for that instead. I still added CuteNews (so simple and stuff). With the new design, I hated VLYnet, I wanted something better, therefore, I, on Dec. 24, 2006, bought Awesomely-Aloof.net. I'm trying the best I can to get a few more sub-sites up, and only link to the ones more complete.

Around November-ish 2008 I started re-designing, with an effort to remove iFrames as I heard they are not the best method. Still not sure if the newer method works any better, but after two years, it was time for a change.

December 2010 I decided to re-design, once more, this time, with an effort to remove tables, at least as a means to the layout. The new re-design is also in hopes of making it much easier to just change colors by just having to change one tiny stylesheet.

Past Layouts (Pre-Awesomely-Aloof.net)

And this is an example of what happens when GeoCities PageBuilder is used, you become too tempted to go overboard, and this was early 2002 (according the the name of the image)
2003, with what I believe was with Bravepages, and it was just VLY, and I believe the general layout moved over to Angelfire, but I honestly can't remember.
The site when it was VLYnet on Angelfire around 2005, the last of it before heading to GoDaddy.
