About the Site (Domain and Design)

The Site | History | Me

I have been making web pages since late 2000, but never had as much time and determenation to expand language skills and buy a domain. Things have changed. Before, it was lame-ass free hosts (first with a Go.com service, then to Tripod, then to GeoCities, then to Bravepages (by 0Catch), then stuck with Angelfire for the longest time (probably the better of the free hosts, but being free, heavily ad-supported, including pop-ups)).

I wanted an outlet which I can express my love for favorite movies and TV shows (creating several sites for shows such as Supernatural, and for movies such as Underworld, plus the whole Firefly/Serenity (the TV Shows spun into a feature film) tribute site, and I'm working on others as well (Friends (which I had one before but gave up on), Two Guys and a Girl, Bill and Ted). Other than what I call sub-sites (since they are part of my entire site, but are separate b/c of design), I also have my "Creative"-corner so there is something that I can call mine. Here is where I have scanned in some drawings I have done, and wrote a few story ideas I've thought of (mostly vampire stuff, because I love that stuff). Each story will have their own little "sub-site" as well, but no matter what, a link back to the home page and for the TV/Movie/or Creativity page (which ever is appropriate). If you don't understand, I don't know how else to say it.

The Domain
Anyway, Through all the changes, I never completely gave up. I have a new attitude and more importantly, a name much better than just using my initials: Awesomely-Aloof. Where does this come from? Well, I have fallen in love with a show that has the potential to be as good as Friends. This show, is called How I Met Your Mother on CBS. And "Awesomeness" is a highly used word, but that was taken. Either way, this highly "AWESOME" show was the inspiration for wanting the word "awesome" used in some way. As for "Aloof," you have That 70s Show to thank for that. In one episode, the word "aloofer" was used, and I have become obsessed with the word "aloofer" (which is not a word, but in the circle, Hyde decides it can be made into a word as they have the technology (nice little reference to Six Million Dollar Man).

Though I could of had Aloofing-Awesomeness, or Awesomeness-Aloofer, or Awesomely-Aloofer, but Awesomely-Aloof clicked.

I have also decided to keep the free clix.to/vlynet URL because I have joined many fanlistings and it'll be a while before I can make sure I change the domain for all. I feel the free URL will stay much longer, just hate it because of the ads.

The Design
I like the color green, so no matter what, the main site will be green. I did the whole table layout, blah blah blah, but I wanted to up the style. I designed the entire layout with the magic of Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have designed with the assumption that most people are up with the latest, and therefore have broadband and the latest browser. Otherwise, they'll have a little bit of a wait for the graphics to load (which will only load once anyway, once loaded they remain the same, the only change would be banners and buttons, and the artwork of course), or they'll have boring pages to look at if they are living with the first browsers of the early nineties which wouldn't support iFrames (well, frames in general).

Credits
I'd like to thank PhotoshopBrushes.com for awesome brushes (such as the amazing Grunge brushes and the Blood Spatter ones, real cool).
Graphics created using either Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 or Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Website designed with Dreamweaver MX 2004 (a mixture of WYSIWYG, but mainly in the Code window), or partly with simple Notepad.
