About the Site (Domain and Design)

The Site | History | Me

I have been making web pages since late 2000. Before, it was lame-ass free hosts (first with a Go.com service, then to Tripod, then to GeoCities, then to Bravepages (by 0Catch), then stuck with Angelfire for the longest time (probably the better of the free hosts, but being free, heavily ad-supported, including pop-ups)).

I wanted an outlet which I can express my love for favorite movies and TV shows (creating several sites for shows such as Supernatural, and for movies such as Underworld, what I call sub-sites (since they are part of my entire site, but are separate b/c of design), I also have my "Creative"-corner (Art and Ideas) so there is something that I can call mine. Here is where I have scanned in some drawings I have done, and wrote a few story ideas I've thought of (mostly vampire stuff, because I love that stuff). Each story will have their own little "sub-site" as well, but no matter what, a link back to the home page and for the TV/Movie/or Creativity page (which ever is appropriate). If you don't understand, I don't know how else to say it.

The Domain
Anyway, Through all the changes, I never completely gave up. I settled on a doman name: Awesomely-Aloof. Where does this come from? Well, I have fallen in love with a show that has the potential to be as good as Friends. This show, is called How I Met Your Mother on CBS. And "Awesomeness" is a highly used word, but that was taken. Either way, this highly "AWESOME" show was the inspiration for wanting the word "awesome" used in some way. As for "Aloof," you have That 70s Show to thank for that. In one episode, the word "aloofer" was used, and I have become obsessed with the word "aloofer" (which is not a word, but in the circle, Hyde decides it can be made into a word as they have the technology (nice little reference to Six Million Dollar Man).

Though I could of had Aloofing-Awesomeness, or Awesomeness-Aloofer, or Awesomely-Aloofer, but Awesomely-Aloof clicked. Also, the word "awesome" has new meaning, from the NBC series Chuck where one character is actually nicknamed "Captain Awesome."

The Design
2006-2008 -->The first design was done with a table layout, blah blah blah, but I wanted to up the style. I designed the entire layout with the magic of Adobe Photoshop CS2. I designed it with the assumption that most people are up with the latest, and therefore have broadband and the latest browser. It was green-themed, used my dog as part of the header, and made use of iFrames (I know, bad)

2008-2010 -->Out went iFrames, but I still utilized a table layout, beefed it with CSS, and used PHP scripting more. The design was red-themed and featured a hand drawn image of a person's profile with wavy hair.

2010- -->Out went using a table layout, as I have now attempted using DIV tags for the layout and CSS for positioning/style. Less graphical, except with the small wolf I drew in Photoshop and what I guess can be called a logo for the name. The site went blue this time around.

Credits
I'd like to thank PhotoshopBrushes.com for awesome brushes (such as the amazing Grunge brushes and the Blood Spatter ones, real cool).
Graphics created using either Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 or Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Website designed with Dreamweaver MX 2004 (a mixture of WYSIWYG, but mainly in the Code window), or partly with simple Notepad, maybe to quickly edit a stylesheet without opening up a huge program.

Past Layouts (for Awesomely-Aloof.Net)

The first design when I purchased a domain and web space back 2006 (well, 2007, I bought the domain first, worked on the site, and paid for hosting in early 2007). Green-themed (my favorite color) with pics of my dog. Very graphical.
Version 2.0 went up in late 2008, with a black background, red designs, less graphics, though this is when I had a Wacom tablet to essentially hand-write a "logo" (eh, not sure to call it a logo, but, eh, IDK).
